Advisory Director

Shira provides business development and strategic guidance, particularly to B2B and B2C companies. She is also responsible for leading Charlesbank’s ESG efforts across the firm and its portfolio.

Shira was engaged as an Advisory Director at Charlesbank in 2019 after 26 years at Staples, where she most recently served as CEO. She began her career at Bain & Company as a management consultant advising CPG and retail clients. While at Bain, Shira led the team that developed the business plan for Staples’ initial delivery business. She subsequently joined Staples in 1992 and held various executive roles in marketing, human resources and general management before becoming president of North American operations and later CEO. During her years at Staples, the company underwent a robust digital transformation and grew from a mid-sized US retailer into a global multi-channel distributor with a powerful presence in retail, e-commerce and B2B delivery.

Personal

Shira lives in Newton, MA, with her husband, and they have three grown children. She is a member of the Board of Directors of CarMax, CBRE and Henry Schein.

Advisory Directors are business executives or industry experts well-known to Charlesbank who participate in specific activities that arise in their areas of expertise, including fund and portfolio company advisory services. They are independent advisors who provide consulting services to Charlesbank, its funds and its portfolio companies at varying levels of engagement.
