Prior to co-founding Charlesbank in 1998, Mike was a Managing Director at Harvard Private Capital Group, the firm’s predecessor. He joined there in 1991, having begun his tenure at Harvard Management Company in 1979 as Director of Research. Before that he was a member of the founding class and a Consultant at Bain & Company.

Personal
Mike is a Trustee of Syracuse University and serves on the boards of Boston Museum of Science and New England Conservatory. He is also an active member of the Geological Society of America, and has been published in Nature Magazine. He and his wife live in Wellesley, MA, and have three children and two grandchildren. With a range of outdoor interests including earth sciences and mountaineering, Mike holds the record for single-day ascents of Mount Washington (3x).
