Fashion retailer for plus-size consumers

FULLBEAUTY Brands is a direct-to-consumer retailer for plus-size consumers, offering products through catalogs and an online marketplace. In 2015, we sold a controlling interest in the company to a financial sponsor.

Investment Summary

In 2013, Full Beauty was owned by a French luxury goods manufacturer that viewed the business as non-core. Together with an executive partner from our network, we completed a complex corporate carve-out of the business.

Carve-out

We supported management in the transition from a non-core catalog division, operated largely for cash flow, to a more growth-oriented, stand-alone e-commerce company.

Senior Management

During our hold, we recruited a seasoned direct-to-consumer executive as CEO, and strengthened the senior management team by helping add executive level talent in brand management, e-commerce and merchandising.

Growth Strategy

Charlesbank invested in numerous initiatives to support growth, as well as re-branding from OneStopPlus to Full Beauty Brands, and acquiring Swimsuits For All.

Cost Structure

The Charlesbank team assisted management in realizing substantial indirect cost savings in paper purchasing, apparel sourcing and shipping, and improving the private-label credit card program.

Capital Structure

We helped lead multiple recapitalization transactions to reduce cost of capital and maintain balance sheet flexibility.

Exit

In 2015, we sold a controlling interest in the company to a financial sponsor.
